Apple crumble
Sweet simplicity
Like most people, I don’t like being told what to do or how to do it, haha. As I am writing this, I see that this has applied to my creative take on cooking. I often find traditional recipes boring, and I like to challenge them by creating my own take on these old recipes and adding unique twists. Everyone loves a good apple crumble. This particular recipe is a delightful example of my culinary experimentation. Instead of the usual oat and flour bases, I've used quinoa flakes, which add a wonderful texture and nutty flavour. To elevate the taste further, I've incorporated sumac, a tangy and slightly citrusy spice that brings an unexpected but delightful zing. Some sneaky mustard seeds are mixed into the apple, which works nicely. Ready to dive into something deliciously different? Let's go!
I love the ratio of this recipe, but I can see my wife Laura asking for more cooked apples. If that is the case for you, double the apple and spice component and keep the crumble recipe the same.
